This is a short tutorial on how to create a new WiFi network, which can be over VLAN or not, using Unifi Switches. The process is a bit different than UDM-Pro, so here we go:
On your Unifi Controller Web UI, go to Settings >> Network and click on Create a new network and do as follows:
- General
- Name: New_Wifi_VLANXXX
- I like to add the VLAN ID on the name
- Name: New_Wifi_VLANXXX
- Advanced
- If your Wifi will run over VLAN, you need to set it, otherwise, skip it
- VLAN ID: XXX
Click on Apply changes. Go to Settings >> WiFi and click on Create a new WiFi Network and do as follows:
- General
- Enabled: checked
- Name: New_WiFi_Name
- Password: MyLittleSecret or anything you like 🙂
- Network: New_Wifi_VLANXXX for VLAN or New_WiFi_LAN otherwise
- Advanced
- Leave as it is
Click on Apply changes to finish. After some seconds, the new WiFi network will be provisioned. If your WiFi was created based on LAN network, you are good to go. If you picked a VLAN network, than no traffic will flow until you finish the VLAN configuration on your router (which will be pfSense if you are following my blog).
That is it!
